Famous Optimist Barbecue Happens May 19!

Tucker Optimist Club offers the Best Barbecue in Tucker!

The Tucker Optimist Club offers our spring barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The profits for the barbecue sale go to local youth-oriented projects. The chopped pork plates and half-a-chicken plates will be available at the barbecue pit across from the post office. Plates will sell for $10, but you may pre-order a whole butt for $40.  The event will run from 11:00 AM until 3 PM, unless we sell out early.

The club members are well-organized in all aspects of planning, cooking and serving barbecue dinners. The day of the barbecue starts at 3 am when the Matthews cafeteria owner delivers the meat to the BBQ pits for cooking. Several members are there to start the coals to begin cooking the pork Boston butts.  They keep an eye on the sizzling pork and start getting ready to barbecue chicken.

As the sun begins to rise the other members show up to help with preparation of the baked beans, cole slaw, and the chicken. When serving time begins, the assembly line starts up, and soon-to-be-satisfied customers pick up lunch or dinner.
